Since everyone have their personality which is different according to others, so you may be normal in s.o.`s eyes but freaky in other`s. The idea maight be referd to that many people are not themselves trying to look normal for someone, instead of being themselves and don`t expend their energy in something like being normal.

So they expend energy to just be liked & appreciated... not normal necessarily!

And sometimes, they expend energy trying to be likes but failing, cause it's teir own personnailty that is appreciated.
I learn that to people who are looking for a job : "don't try to look like to what they're searching, cause you never know what kind of people they really want. Just be yourself"
