Nice thread.
This is a 12 video collection, an entire recital by Pavarotti and Joan Sutherland. I wont post the all 12 videos, but they can be found on the sidebar at youtube.
First song is Libiamo from La Traviata.

Georges Bizet (1838-1875)
Carmen Carmen's Habanera
The very good Maria Ewing in 2 different interpretations of the infamous "chanson" from Bizet's opera Carmen.
In this version she give's Carmen a very spanish and gipsy kind of style in her pronounciation and her musical interpretation.
She takes many liberties from the notes, like Carmen's character also wouldn't obide to any rules
1985 production of Glyndebourne Festival Opera
_____________________________________________________________
And again Maria Ewing, this time with another approach of the same song, perhaps a bit more lyrical, but still very representing.
I think both versions have their charms & pluses. _________________ "If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will, then it will because it is good!"

Boy, she adds a lot of character to the role!! It's reeeeaaly acted out well! Not only that, it looks like she sings it almost effortlessly!! I enjoyed it! _________________ Though everything else may appear shallow and repulsive, even the smallest task in music is so absorbing, and carries us so far away from town, country, earth, and all worldly things, that it is truly a blessed gift of God.

What would Parsifal be without it's Prelude?
Conducted by Daniel Barenboim.
PART II

It's because you wrote [yotubube] instead of [youtube]... hence the laughter on my last post.

Oops, now you've mentioned it... my bad. Haven't been sleeping well this whole week and just came home from university - which btw took quite long today. _________________ "If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will, then it will because it is good!"
