This is the Commendatore Scene from the second act of Don Giovanni Love it. The performances are amazing. Watch to the end to get the full effect. It features Sam Ramey, Kurt Moll, and Ferruccio Furlanetto
It even has English subtitles _________________ Though everything else may appear shallow and repulsive, even the smallest task in music is so absorbing, and carries us so far away from town, country, earth, and all worldly things, that it is truly a blessed gift of God.

Here is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem Confutatis and Lacrimosa
John Eliot Gardiner conducts the English Baroque Soloists and the Monteverdi Choir. This performance was filmed at the Palau de la Musica Catalana, Barcelona in Dec. 1991.
Latin Lyrics and English translation follow:
CONFUTATIS
Confutatis maledictis,
When the damned are cast away
Flammis acribus addictis,
and consigned to the searing flames,
Voca me cum benedictus.
call me to be with the blessed.
Oro supplex et acclinis,
Bowed down in supplication I beseech Thee,
Cor contritum quasi cinis:
my heart as though ground to ashes:
Gere curam mei finis.
Help me in my final hour.
LACRIMOSA
Lacrimosa dies illa,
O this day full of tears,
Qua resurget ex favilla.
when from the ashes arises
Iudicandus homo reus:
guilty man to be judged:
Huic ergo parce, Deus.
O Lord, have mercy upon him!
Pie Jesu Domine,
Gentle Lord Jesus,
Dona eis requiem. Amen.
grant them eternal rest. Amen.

Anna Caterina Antonacci and Jonas Kaufmann, final duet from Carmen, London, ROH, 2006
If you've seen Carmen, you'll notice she is not as aggressive as some have portrayed her.
This one also has English Subtitles

Well I loved the game Gabriel Knight 2 - The Beast Within
In the game this opera is played. I like it. Maybe because it completes the game.

Wow, I see you've been quite busy too, wlz!
Very nice finds.
Here's a little addition of mine:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791)
The Magic Flute
Sarastro's Aria "O Isis & Osiris", performed by the incredible Kurt Moll
in the MET, sung in German

Here's another version of the "O Isis & Osiris"-Aria, this time being sung in english, which is kind of weird for me since I've known this opera since my childhood in german.
René Pape, Sarastro
recorded in the MET 2005, conducted by James Levine
Oh, and this one has subtitles too... interesting. _________________ "If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will, then it will because it is good!"

I just love that one, already had it in my favourites for some time...
I'm so amazed that Kurt Moll sang the low D in the end, just awesome!
IMO the opera should end right after the death of Don Giovanni and this unnecessary Nonet should be cut...
I always get a nice, but goosebumpie feeling when I hear to this particular music, certainly one THE climaxes in music history.
Here's another quite good version, Bryn Terfel as Don Giovanni

They really put forth some effort to make the opera look convincing
