This has by far the one of the most powerful orchestrated sounds to it that I've ever heard. We have got to get this in here . Anyone who's heard this would agree.

Have sung it several years ago, but I would suggest another recording.
Gardiner may be good with Bach etc., but Verdi?
I'd really recommend the record with Carlo Maria Giulini from EMI CLASSICS, can't find a link yet.
Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Soprano
Christa Ludwig, Mezzo
Nicolai Gedda, Tenor
Nicolai Ghiaurov, Bass
Philharmonia Chorus & Orchestra
Carlo Maria Giulini, conductor _________________ "If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will, then it will because it is good!"

I own the one I suggested so I'll have to listen to yours... _________________ Though everything else may appear shallow and repulsive, even the smallest task in music is so absorbing, and carries us so far away from town, country, earth, and all worldly things, that it is truly a blessed gift of God.

Well, I can't say I like yours any more than mine but it seems like yours has superior sound quality. I'll take either one. _________________ Though everything else may appear shallow and repulsive, even the smallest task in music is so absorbing, and carries us so far away from town, country, earth, and all worldly things, that it is truly a blessed gift of God.

As long as this piece gets added, it shouldn't bother too much which version we get
I totally agree with you on that, wlz.
The good thing in Vienna is that there are 2-3 shops which are specialized in every kind of classical records and therefore are able to tell you which records are worth buying or which have a better sound quality etc.
I'm just trying to show some good alternatives.
Anyway, let's get this Verdi! _________________ "If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will, then it will because it is good!"
