And now finally, i cannot leave this topic of Franck's glorious La Pièce héroïque and the 3 Chorales without plugging for the magnificent recording by Telarc for Michael Murray! I first couldn't believe anyone would try to match the Classic Marcel Dupre recording in stature and integrity, but Murray definitely fills the shoes of the Master, Cesar Franck, the devoted Wagnerian who taught the likes of Debussy, Ravel, Satie, D'Indy, Vierne, Chausson1! Franck shouted at his composition students at the Paris Conservatory: "MODULATE, MODULATE, ALWAYS MODULATE!"
